Öjendorf Cemetery was established in 1966. It is open to all religious denominations. The burial site covers nearly 100 hectares and is the second largest cemetery in Hamburg.
A special section is reserved for burials in accordance with Islamic rites.
Unique among the memorial sites are the monuments erected in honour of the Italian soldiers fallen in World War II and the Vietnamese Boat People.
A special centre of attraction is the "Schleemer Brook" with its natural landscape and bird sanctuary.
